A Classic Still Going Strong; The Muck Boot Hoser
Not too long ago I was asked to write a small review for a boot line called the Hoser Classic from the Muck Boot Company and I agreed but with a lot of hesitation. I’ve written about literally hundreds of different styles and makes of boots and I figured this was going to be just an average write up. I was also revealed that this was by no means a new line of boots but rather an old one, that’s been around for a decade.
When my shiny brand new pair of Hoser boots arrived at my doorstep, I immediately noticed the quality of construction. The way that the sole and the rubber upper was blended and molded together as one was beautiful. Also on the boot was this nylon upper, which stretches and gives you that snug fit at the top.
I had learned that Muck Boots had redesigned the Hoser into the new Chore work boot and modified the design a little, but since the boot had become so popular, people liked the old design and continue to purchase it even though it’s been enhanced. Talk about customer loyalty. Remember when Coke redid their formula and it caused quite a stir among the consumers? Not sure this generated the same kind of publicity, but same concept.
After I walked around with my new boots on for about thirty minutes or so, I was relieved to find that there were no pressure points and no signs of impending blisters. The rubber compound is very pliable so there is essentially no break in period as with leather. Well, I can certainly see how people would get accustomed to this particular line of Muck Boots, they are good. I don’t want to give them up.
